Welcome to the Lawrence County Museum

 The Lawrence County Museum represents our proud past and looks forward to a wonderful future.

Established in 1988, The Lawrence County Museum located on the corner of 6th and Adams Street in Ironton, Ohio is open Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. till 4:00 p.m. April through mid-December or by appointment by calling 740-532-1222 and please leave a message.

The mission of the Historical Society and Museum is to preserve the proud past of Lawrence County, Ohio. The Museum is staffed by volunteers, (Docents) who truly care about Lawrence County, Ohio and our proud heritage.

The museum offers an array of fascinating objects and history from the Nannie Kelly Wright room,( Nannie was the only known female Iron Master in the world, and the 2nd wealthiest woman in the world of her time), to the Reverend Rankin Room, ( famous abolitionist of slavery), the actual running of a miniature Iron Furnace, John Campbell, founder of Ironton, and so much more.

Take in the Military Room. A tribute to the armed forces and soldiers from the Revolutionary War all the way up thru the Vietnam War You don't know what you have been missing until you see these wonderful pieces and hear the stories of yesteryear.
